BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The UVM men’s hoops team wrapped up its Summer session on Friday after spending the last 7 weeks trying to build chemistry and get everyone on the same page. The 2026-27 roster looks very different from a year ago in that it includes ten first-time Catamounts.
Vermont will be leaning on three big time returners in Gus Yalden, Noah Barnett, and Momo Nkugwa, but the new guys have impressed their teammates as well this summer.
Now one thing UVM has not done to this point is release their nonconference schedule: head coach John Becker says they’re still working on a couple of games. But he was nice enough to share some details including a massive road test against a team right at the top of just about everyone’s preseason national polls.
“Yeah, we’re playing at Florida,” Becker said. “We’ll be at the number one team in the country in early December on a Sunday. We have that MAAC challenge open up the year at Fairfield and then Quinnipiac up here. W’re playing a lot of the MAAC schools, a lot of the same schools that we’ve played. We’re going to go to Hofstra over the holidays for an MTE. So, we’ll be down in the New York metro area quite a bit this year. So, that’ll be good for our fan base down there and certainly for me to get close to home and see my mom a little bit. So, that’ll be great.”
