8-time Major Champion Tom Watson reveals “the secret” that unlocked complete swing freedom during a 1994 range session. Struggling with getting the club stuck in a painful “reverse C” position, Watson channeled Corey Pavin’s practice motion to keep his shoulder plane turning perpendicular to his spine. Maintaining a consistent spine angle prevents head bobbing, eliminates push-blocks to the right, and keeps the head rotating smoothly around the base of the neck like Sam Snead. Using a simple wire coat hanger drill, Watson demonstrates how maintaining shoulder plane consistency delivers effortless, repeatable ball striking.

He's right. this should be shown to every misguided soul who INSIST there should be a lateral movement of the hips (about 90% of golfers and golf instructors) the "weight shift" and lateral movement is a MYTH. you can't do it and accomplish what he is describing here (I DON'T CARE who says otherwise or who seems to slide their hips. It is POSSIBLE to hit a ball that way, but it's 100x more difficult and nothing is gained) keep your spine stationary, and swing around it, like a wheel on an axle. that's 90% of the golf swing.
I've been studying these Tom Watson videos closely, they are the best on the internet that ive come across
What a great visual. So expertly explained by one of my all time favorites Tom Watson
This is the most gorgeous move

What a fantastically simple principle, can’t wait to try it, thanks Tom
