Most golfers trying to square the club face are working on the wrong part of the swing. Eric Cogorno and Golf Digest Top In State instructor Steve Sieracki break down why club face control and casting problems almost always start at setup — and how two specific positions, the elbow squeeze and forearm rotation, fix both at the same time. Get the elbows in the three position at setup, maintain that radius through the ball, and add the forearm pronation to keep the face closed to the shaft — and solid contact with a predictable draw becomes the natural result. These are the same golf impact position keys Eric uses at his golf schools to fix slicers and golfers who can’t stop casting. If you leave this video without trying the radius drill, you’re leaving solid contact and club face control on the table.
What You’ll Learn:
• Why squeezing the elbows together at setup is the first step to fixing golf impact position
• How the radius — left arm and shaft alignment — controls contact and prevents casting in the golf swing
• The three position: elbows squeezed, arms straight, butt of club ahead of the leading edge with shaft lean
• The fist and a half checkpoint for correct hand distance from the body at setup and follow through
• How forearm rotation in the golf swing — right forearm pronation — keeps the face closed to the shaft
• Why twisting the face closed with the elbow still forward is the key indicator of ball striking ability
• How Golf Digest Top In State instructor Steve Sieracki teaches club face control for a draw and predictable ball flight
• How keeping setup and follow through positions the same creates repeatable contact and predictable curve
