Japanese golfer Kuwaki Shiho has clinched her first major title overseas by winning the Women’s British Open in a playoff.
Kuwaki entered the final round on Sunday in second place, three strokes behind the leader.
She carded a birdie on the second hole before bogeying the fourth and fifth. But she made another birdie on the par-3 ninth.
The 23-year-old remained steady while her leaderboard rivals struggled to improve their scores. She nailed her third birdie of the day on the 13th.
Kuwaki finished the round at 5 under, tying with Esther Henseleit of Germany.
The pair went into a playoff. They both parred the first hole. But on the second, Kuwaki saved par, while Henseleit made a bogey.
Kuwaki is the third Japanese player to prevail at the Women’s Open, after Shibuno Hinako in 2019 and Yamashita Miyu in 2025. Kuwaki is also the seventh Japanese woman to claim an LPGA major.
