Jake Knapp produced one of the most extraordinary final rounds of the 3M Open, shooting a 62 with a back-nine 28 and seven consecutive birdies.
The most remarkable detail? Knapp did not realise he had made seven birdies in a row.
Walking toward the 17th green, a spectator shouted, “How about eight in a row?” Knapp initially thought he had made a par somewhere during the run before realising just how spectacular his back nine had become.
His 28 tied the tournament’s nine-hole scoring record, while the seven consecutive birdies represented the longest streak of his PGA TOUR career.
Knapp also reveals that he is still competing with a wrist injury. He continues to use tape and a small splint and admits the wrist is “not great”, making his performance even more impressive. With only a limited number of events remaining before the end of the season, Knapp says it is now about managing the pain, limiting his practice shots and keeping his foot firmly on the gas.
Watch Jake Knapp break down the seven-birdie streak, his final-round 62, the difficult shot on the 17th and his ongoing battle with the wrist injury.
