I can't get anyone to listen to me on this, but the Bears were 8-5 (counting the playoffs) in one score games last year. That really isn't a statistical outlier. It's just 1.5 wins over expected.
The reason why the Lions odds are the way they are is because of the last place schedule they are playing. Of all of the teams in the division are pretty close then those couple of “easier” games make a big difference toward winning the division.
I think most of us expects the offense to improve. It would be more of a shock if it didn't. If the Bears put up 24 points through the first 3 quarters, and the other team puts up 27, they will still be in comeback mode. How the defense performs will matter greatly to this year's success.
Actually our last 5 games were real close. We could have won or lost all 5. Caleb could be 5 and 0 against the Packers. or…… 0 and 5.
Hoge…. I played football for Hobart IN in the mid to late 80s. Ask Braggs about Hobart football in the 80's and 90's. I've known guys that have practiced under Don Howell and gone to boot camp. They all said the football was harder. That said…. I also played hockey for two years at Homewood Flossmor. That was 5 times as brutal as the football 3 a days. going once to practice every Saturday and playing a game on Sunday hurt much worse. Hockey is no joke!!!!!
