Scottie Scheffler speaks ahead of the 2026 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities, discussing his tournament debut, course strategy, major-championship season, putting and the place of personal rivalries in golf.
Making his first appearance at the 3M Open — and possibly his first visit to Minnesota — the World No. 1 explains why he added the tournament to his schedule following two weeks in the United Kingdom and why keeping the ball in the fairway will be crucial against TPC Twin Cities’ healthy rough, length and water hazards.
Scheffler also talks about playing the pro-am with Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, the tournament’s family-friendly atmosphere, his consistency throughout the major season and why he is not making any major changes to his putting preparation.
Asked whether personal drama and rivalries are good for golf, Scheffler delivers a clear response: his biggest rival every week is the golf course, and he has “never been a big fan of personal jabs.”
He also discusses the importance of rest during his third consecutive tournament week and offers his perspective on Jordan Spieth’s absence from the 3M Open.

Scotty's the most boring player on and off the course. He didn't see Bryson cheating but he was the only person on that didn't. Love Rory's honesty as well as his sheer talent. You don't always get the best with Rory, but when you do get it it's amazing.

Where's the Bryson question btw it's on everyone's minds, what does Scotty think of the Bryson antics? The reporters just as boring. What a weak bunch of questions that no-one is interested in.
