Acclaimed Southport chef Chris Stead has enjoyed an unforgettable week as The 154th Open Golf Championship took place at Royal Birkdale.
Chris, also known as The Ready Steady Chef, was chosen to be the private chef for world number one golfer Scottie Scheffler, from the USA, who arrived at the tournament as the reigning The Open champion after winning in 2025.
He also cooked for other top world golfers including South Korea’s Tom Kim, as well as England legend Sir Nick Faldo, during a special England Golf Social evening at Southport Golf Academy.

Chris Stead said: “What an unforgettable week in my amazing hometown!
“It’s been an absolute privilege to work as the private chef for Scottie Scheffler throughout The Open Championship.
“Preparing every meal for the world’s number one’s golfer during one of the biggest weeks in the sport has been an incredible experience and one I’ll never forget.
“When I took the call from Scottie’s team asking if I was available to cater for him I knew I had to juggle my diary round and make it happen. I can’t thank Will, Paul, my team at the factory and my events teams for keeping everything under control. I truly would be lost without them.

“Thank you to Scottie and his beautiful family for welcoming me into their home and making me feel like family.
“Catering for Tom Kim was an honour too and I really enjoyed creating some new Korean dishes.
“We also provided a canapé and BBQ event for Nick Faldo and his team this week which my team looked after.

“It was during the England Golf Social evening at Southport Golf Academy. The Chief Executive Officer of England Golf Jeremy Tomlinson, plus senior people from other golf federations, here and throughout the world, were present.
“Guests enjoyed a round of the Faldo Futures Junior Series, hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
“Congratulations to the winner of The Open, Ryan Fox, who we catered for at The British Masters.
“I’ve been back to the factory today and doing what I love…. making sausages!
