Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli scored a perfectly-judged win at Spa after passing the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc in the closing stages – after making the pass, you could say, that he had been denied at Silverstone. Max Verstappen drove valiantly into P3 for Red Bull, despite a top speed disadvantage and numerous deployment issues – and he might have been P2 had not Leclerc’s pit stop not been “neutralised” by a brief virtual safety car period. George Russell, who did not complete lap one in the other Merc, has now been displaced in the World Championship points table by the driver with whom he clashed at Les Combes on the opening lap today – by his former team-mate, Sir Lewis Hamilton.
Peter in this video looks back at a race that was punctuated by unaccountable surges of power by random cars on the long Spa straights but produced, nonetheless, some outstanding driving.

I'm a Max fan and I completely agree with you Peter. George should have gotten the penalty not Lewis, he cut right across him, don't understand it at all, Lewis was just holding his line.
The regulations are a disgrace. Just go back to last years cars. LeClerc deserved a penalty for crashing into Piastri and ruining his race. Lewis deserved a penalty for an unsafe release, his penalty in regards to Russell was probably wrong. Russell and Piastri are being screwed over either intentionaly or unintentionally by their own teams battery. Have a look at the speed trace for Piastri in qualifying and he loses 3 1/2 tenths on the final straight meaning he outqualified Lando.

Its fairly obvious that Russell and Piastri are being screwed over either intentionally or unintentionally by their team. Is there another driver looking for their seat? This know it all should be working in F1 because Stella said he doesn't know why Piastri lost 3 1/2 tenths on the straight in qualifying to Lando when both are meant to have the same battery. LeClerc deserved a penalty for intentionally damaging Piastri's car. If it was the other way around Piastri would have received a 10 second penalty.

Your constant slamming of Piastri is sounding like a grudge , Oscar down force was damaged when Charles squeezed him (which should have been a penalty )causing him deg, he had to manage!

Old Timer here. F1 was and should be about innovation and spectacle. And it was run by people with passion, not money mongers.
Sure is nice to see 4 teams running at the front. So much more enjoyable than 4 years of Vettel taking off into the distance, several years of Lewis and Max doing the same. Now we have several drivers who can win, which is what we all want.

Why not use 6 liter V12 engines with synthetic fuel and call it a day? Congrats to Kimi. And the RB is really quite quick now. Hadjar started at the back of the grid and finished 6th. Btw he was just as fast Max all weekend.
These regs suck,and they are hiding it changed a few small things and said f off to the fans…not even showing on tv how slow they are…i like the unreliability to a certain extent makes it feel a bit retro but the engines theres no fixing,if it was 40% electric and had the power to go 330kph no super clipping id be fine,but this is a joke

I dont agree with lifting Max on pedestal, considering how well Hadjar drove while starting from the back of the grid. And knowing that in Red Bull Max always gets preferential treatment.
I guess telemetry displaying 10hp LESS horsepower produced by Piastri's car compared to Lando's means nothing. Piastri's baller overtake, near zero visibility in the rain past your boy last year, tells the true story, before his "mysterious" underperformance since.
Lewis came 4th though. Would have been 3rd maybe if not for that missed flap adjustment.

How can the red bull be slower than a damaged piastri McLaren car? When it was clear hadjar could keep ahead of Norris also, stop making the red bull sound slower than it is. Also, why not make a point against verstappen, like I think him overtaking Antonelli before kennel on the first lap was a mistake from him.

These battery powered cars are a joke! F1 should be about mechanical grip and internal combustion engines! They need to totally do away with any battery powered engines in F1! This is not Formula E and races should not be determined by who can deploy their battery better around a track! It’s not allowing drivers to use their driving skills they’ve been honing for years and it’s fake racing! I feel sorry for George, Charles, Lando and all the F1 drivers having to deal with these new regs because they are sh1t!🤨

I swear even Hamilton’s team has been working against him. Today in the pit a crew member held him up. They want Leclair to finish ahead of him every race, even if it cost them points. The fix is in as far as I can see and it even involves officials. They called that yellow flag at the most opportunistic moment possible knowing it would benefit Leclair. The fact Leclair didn’t get a penalty for causing a collision is crazy. He intentionally was pushing anyone that tried to pass him at that point on the track, off the track. He knew the McLaren was there and and hit him because he didn’t want to let him pass. Yet Hamilton gets one for a racing incident, were he was clearly not at fault.

Went to bed last night (race start was 23:00hrs) woke up and watched the highlights 😑😑
The speed differentials don't really matter so much, but the unpredictability of them definitely does.
I really don't see why they don't just seriously limit the maximum deployment, maybe halve it or more, so it can last long enough. The reduction in peak power down to maybe 700 to 800hp would be unnoticed. But at least the drivers would get it under their control.
I felt Hamilton's penalty was unwarranted. It wasn't a reckless move and it wasn't intentional.
What a joke this sport has become! The only way to save it is a huge and immediate halt to these regulations and investing all in on V8 or V10 engines

I don't know why Peter is throwing shade on Piastri in this particular race. Even Andrea Stella said he lost 5 to 10 points of downforce depending on the conditions, so I don't really get the argument that that's an opportunity to "just drive faster."

Lewis hold his line? Eh no, he had a bit of oversteer because he went to fast, drifted away from the apex into Russell and at no point did he try to avoid contact. It was clumsy for a racer with his experience.
Why do people say Max's RB is so slow when he qualified 2nd and was quicker than McLaren and a match for Ferrari, while Hadjar finished 6th from back of field. RB are not slow.
