Getting Started With The Bosch eBike Flow App

Getting Started With The Bosch eBike Flow App

The new Bosch eBike Flow app is said to enhance the human element of your eBike. The app allows you to customise your bike’s power modes, helps you with navigation, and even customise your bike’s display. Bosch has also introduced a much-needed anti-theft technology which is included in the ‘Flow+’ subscription. Neil Donoghue is here to run through all of the app’s features so you can get up to speed with the latest tech for your eBike.

  1. The customisation of the modes is useful but the ride tracking only works well when you have decent mobile signal, which you probably won't if you ride anywhere outside of of a built up area. It's also useless if you own more than one ebike since you can only link one bike to your phone. All things considered, it's a rubbish app.

  2. No GPS, no objective value for the tuning, no communication with Garmin, dimension and location of the display unusable on a real MTB….many hopes for the next release

  3. Just got a Canyon Grizl:On and the bike is awesome. This Bosch system is horrible, though. The system won’t stay stable with my HR monitor. When it is stable, the HR data doesn’t upload to Strava and the Bosch ride info doesn’t keep it. The distance to empty info is never accurate.
It’s nice to be able to tune the modes but the parameters aren’t very intuitive and have a huge impact on battery life. Lastly, when is the auxiliary battery going to be available in the U.S?

  4. The Bosch smart system flow app isn't that smart to be honest.
I have a Trek rail with the smart system and the module you need to fit to enable the alarm and tracking will not fit unless you completely remove the motor armour and that voids the warranty.
So the flow alarm system with tracking is a complete waste of time and does not allow all owners to completely use the system.

  5. I have a Canyon Grizl:on and the Bosch app is terrible… if I’d have known it doesn’t talk to other eco systems like Garmin, I wouldn’t have bought the bike.. definitely a buyer beware with the Bosch system, certainly for anybody who dis multi sports and wants a single source of metrics… it’s such a shame really

  6. To be useful bikes should come with wireless phone charging systems directly connected to bikes own power. Everyone is stuffing bottle tool holders with usb power banks and sps connect type holders. Adjusting power settings is a bit gimmicky and academic when type approval limits exist. Americans may find it more useful.

  7. Flow Plus subscription is $5.99/month. That right there means I will never buy one of these bikes. If you need a subscription to make the bike alarm work, you never really own your bike.

This is from Bosches site: If you cancel your Flow+ subscription, you can continue to use eBike Alarm until the end of the selected payment period. The functions are only deactivated after expiry. If you buy a Flow+ annual subscription, for example, you can cancel it at any time and continue to use it until the expiry date.

  8. Cheers for updating this Bosch Smart System video, it was needing it! All the rest are in German. I left a comment not long ago asking if you could do a new video, so thanks, much appreciated. The UK guy's need it the auto translation is cr*p l on yt lol

  9. The range control is good i teated it out yesterday and the new screen picking for the purion 200 now direct from the app was definitely needed so that was good to see!

  10. I updated my new eMTB with the Purion 200 and Kiox 500. It was mainly for riding to the trails navigation but the difference from the 300 is worth the upgrade i keep it on with the purion 200 its a perfectwee system having your speed and battery on the purion 200 and the info upfront over stem i now prefer it with the kiox 500 on! and they're cheap right now with overstocked items in bike shops selling them separately! I got both for £120 from mine a couple weeks ago! The Kiox 500 is a lot faster coming on and scrolling, and it plays sound for navigation through the speaker on the back!

  11. thanks however you really breezed through some things and put too much time on b-roll.. I'll have to find another video that only shows "getting started" information in more detail and setup examples..

  12. The ebike flow app will stitch you right up if you're derestricted guys, don't friggin use it.
And never ever buy Bosch again, because what kind of a company puts R&D time into catching out their customers who've decided to do what they want with their purchase?
    Seriously who does that?!
It's actually dangerous putting us into limp mode and of course you bastz charge us to reset the bike too….
    Never again…
Bafang don't do that to their customers do they?

  13. The key advantage is it eliminates the need for a Kiox display which is over-priced . I use a quad-lock case and mount, for my iphone 15 promax, with the vibration damper; on my bikes, and on my motorcycle.

  14. Hi Neil, How to store the HR data that I can view on the Bosch display, to the .FIT file, Flow App and Strava? How to pair the bike to a Garmin/Wahoo bike computer, to see and log the power, cadence and speed from the e-bike?

  15. Be great if you could give me a tip – I have the CX and my bike is new from 2025 (Bulls fully – Carbon) – I am new to this playground and it really annoys me when I have a slight downhill section (being tarmac or gravel) and when I want to gather some speed, the motor actively brakes and slows me down. I know that the support is up to 25km/h, but I frequently ride faster and this really annys me. Would really appreciate any advice or which settings I could make.

  16. The navigation feature doesn't work with me. When I ride, the screen is moving but the blue dot (supposed to be me) stays at the same place, so I get lost very fast, can't find any help.

  17. As a newbie to e-mtb this might seem a silly question, but happy with the flow app and finding the phone can go into the mode of giving on-the-go information, but if I mount it on a handlebar holder, my question is; does it harm my iPhone? The pounding I get sometimes is jaw shaking, so I wonder how does the phone behave?

  18. This app is behind the specialized mission control app. I would like to see graphs to adjust assistance in percentages. It would be nice if you could sync your heartrate sensor. Lastly, I would like to know how much power was from the rider and how much was from the motor. I do like the lock/unlock function using your phone as a key.

  19. I am struggling with the nav ability. I tried planning a route on flow app. It dont work out it keeps defaulting to road instead of cross country. Any suggestions???

  20. Just seen this vid. I am thinking of getting a Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE44 HPC SLX 800 2026 which has a Kiox 400. I notice you did not mention the 400 only a 300 and a 500. Can I ask why ? Thanks

  21. Everything that s wrong with e-bike dumb 15 mph limit is dangerous in traffic full stop causes tin box drivers to get pee off and now app that put bike in no assist even dumber I sold my e-bike years ago will not buy another waste of time I’ve gone back to motorbike cheaper to run even when it a 2stroke I still ride mtb with grandkids in woods until uk pulls its finger out in Devon we’ve been waiting 30 years for cycle path from teignmouth to newton abbot blocked by one local landowner and councillor they had money for Austrian all gone and all we have is set of plans that’ll never get finished so cycle industry is shill city and gov .uk all the parties shower s of shite
