Put anything less than 130g shafts in my hand, and the dispersion gets worse, at least long term.
Thanks for doing this. You answered a question I’ve had for some time with irons and flex. Would love to see a similar comparison with the tour lite vs tour.
Irons not as critical for me. I couldn't keep a regular flex 3 wood on the left side of the fairway though, need stiff for sure.
There will be more difference at lower speeds. Someone who can’t swing an iron at 95mph will certainly struggle to turn over an X flex iron versus a regular.
I think shaft flex makes a huge difference if your swing is NOT on plane, this is where 'fitting' for weekend wackers tends to show a bigger difference as most of them will not be on plane.

Just received my 201’s love the look and feel of them. They do spin more then I’m use to. Anything I can do to help lower the spin?
100% that doesn't make any sense. A reg shaft with his swing will very huge if his swing speed changes few mph. It's been proven many times or everyone would just play reg cause of feel
It's not how stiff your shaft is, it's how much control you have over it.

That’s actually good to know. I’ve always had a harder time distinguishing flex in iron shafts. The difference is much more pronounced in woods though as the clubs get longer.

please help: playing since 10 months and i am now 28 hcp. I had a fitting today and the regular shaft felt the best. However they didn’t have kbs tour lite’s. Now my swingspeed is around 78-83 which is exactly i between regular and lite stiff as i looked in your kbs column. I dont know what to choose in this case but i want a shaft that i can handle but still progress on for a long time. Thanks!!
Weight is the more important figure, flex in the same weight is almost nothing in most cases.
Try shaping shots or hitting high and low shots. That kick at the end with the r flex with your swing speed would make it more difficult.
Can you offer irons in "one length" sets?
Yes and no. Alot of players are going to use a much lighter shaft with R flex than with S flex.
Its about shaft weight buddy
Guess it's not as simple as flex but I do find shafts I can hit straight and others I can't keep on the planet.
Maybe it's what you're used to / knowing how to time that specific shaft

Getting fit for shafts is VERY important. Don’t trust the marketing of a club company when it comes to shafts. Don’t trust the marketing of a shaft company when it comes to clubs. Go get fit and try different combos and a good fitter will get you setup for success.
Dumbest shaft comparison for the average golfer I’ve ever seen. We’re not out here swinging our mid irons 90+ mph. Most of us are swinging 70-80mph and for those of us that can swing plus 90 and strike the ball that good we’re not gaming Tokomo’s like the YouTube shills do.

Flex matters for the very slow swing speeds and the very high swing speeds. It doesn't matter for the normal golfer to much
