Tommy Fleetwood is still in between apparel sponsors right now, but his outfit Friday at the 2026 Open Championship garnered praise from the biggest star in the sport.

Fleetwood was rocking the Icon Polo II from Sun Day Red, the brand founded by Tiger Woods, who chimed in on social media Friday, giving Fleetwood a nod for sporting his style: “Lookin good out there.”

Sun Day Red currently only has one player ambassador, and that’s Karl Vilips, a 24-year-old Australian pro who secured his first PGA Tour win at the Puerto Rico Open last year.

For right now, it’s safe to say Fleetwood doesn’t have a permanent deal with Sun Day Red, considering he didn’t wear the brand’s apparel for Thursday’s opening round at Royal Birkdale. But perhaps Tiger is courting the Englishman to join the team? After all, Fleetwood also donned SDR gear at the Genesis Invitational earlier this year, but that’s an annual PGA Tour event hosted by Woods himself. This is The Open on Fleetwood’s home turf — a big stage to rep a brand.

Part of me doesn’t want Fleetwood’s apparel free agency to end. Waiting to see what he’s wearing each week has been a fun little sidebar to follow throughout the 2026 season since his contract with Nike expired in February. Fleetwood and Woods have that in common, too, as the 15-time major champion also split with Nike in 2024 before launching Sun Day Red.

Regardless of whether or not Fleetwood’s decision to breakout the ocean blue Sun Day Red Icon Polo II leads to a real apparel sponsorship, it was fun to see the Big Cat chime in Friday during the year’s final major.

As for Fleetwood, he looks to be in good position to make the cut and earn two more rounds in front of a home crowd this weekend. He posted 1-under 69 on Thursday and 1-under 33 on the first nine Friday to move safely inside the cutline, which is projected to end up at 1 over. The gallery will certainly be urging Fleetwood to make a charge on Saturday and put himself in contention for his first major win.
