ARNOLDS PARK, Iowa (KCAU) — Golfers in the Iowa Great Lakes will see a big change at one of the local golf courses.
Emerald Hills Golf Club in Arnolds Park held a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday for their new 18th hole.
The hole has been in the works for several years, and construction started in the fall of 2024.
The new par-four 18th hole was funded through a $7 million investment in Emerald Hills from a partnership with the organization “The Spirit of Okoboji.”

“As we developed this, we wanted to make sure flow was good with the golf course. Now you have 18, 1, and 10 all on the north side. As you look at that next year, that flow will be really nice for tournaments, especially. We have new cart parking on the north side of the clubhouse, and you really will direct everything north, and then there will be more space out here for future projects,” said Drew Hage, Director of Development for The Spirit of Okoboji.
The new 18th hole is just the beginning of changes at Emerald Hills; there will be new 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th holes in the spring of 2027, and future housing developments around the course to follow sometime after that.
