Brooke Henderson knew it was going to be a tall order on Sunday. The two-time major winner came into the final round of the Amundi Evian seven shots back. But after an eagle on the par-5 seventh and an ace on the par-3 eighth, Canada’s winningest player is within one stroke of Haeran Ryu.
South Korea’s Ryu came into the final round with a three-shot lead after posting an 11-under 60, the lowest round in major championship history, and held a four-stroke leading standing on the eighth tee. But after an ace from Henderson and a bogey from Ryu on No. 8, the race to the fourth major title of the season is in full swing.
Henderson played in the final group alongside Ryu at the last major the KPMG Women’s PGA, where Ryu broke through with her first major victory, and Henderson finished third.
