It’s been a while since “LeBron Watch” was a thing, yet as it stands, the entire NBA and the hoop-loving world are on edge, waiting with bated breath for LeBron James’ decision on his next team. Various teams and players have already reached out to LeBron’s team, trying to recruit him to their squads.
One team that has as good a shot as any at landing the King is the Golden State Warriors. After all, LeBron has long wanted to play with sharpshooting savant Stephen Curry in the NBA, and with both their decorated careers winding down, this could be their last chance to do so.

Popular broadcaster Bill Simmons believes that if Golden State wants to close the deal, they shouldn’t just lean into the prospect of playing with such a selfless superstar like Curry; they should go all in and include in their pitch the opportunity to play at some of the most gorgeous golf courses in all of America, which happen to be located near Golden State.
A golf paradise
Basketball and golf have intersected for quite some time now, with numerous NBA greats like Michael Jordan and Curry finding golf as their other sanctuary outside of the hardwood floor. James was recently bitten by the golf bug, taking up the sport in July 2025.

He candidly admitted he wasn’t very good at it yet but vowed to put in the work to become a decent golfer.
“I love how difficult it is, and I love a challenge. I look forward to just putting more work in over the course of however long it takes me. But right now, I’m having a hell of a time playing,” LeBron shared.
In fact, the King was recently spotted in Puerto Rico, playing golf with his good buddy, Draymond Green, who recently opted out of his Warriors contract to become a free agent.

Although the Warriors are one of a number of teams with a legitimate shot at acquiring LeBron, they’re far from the favorites, with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat currently considered the frontrunners. But if LeBron decides to consider pristine golf courses into the equation, he would be hard-pressed to find an area better than Golden State.
“It’s an all-time no-brainer,” Joe House, host of the golf podcast “Fairway Rollin’,” said. “The proximity to the Monterey Peninsula. You get Cypress (Point Club). You get Pebble (Beach Golf Links). Obviously, Pasatiempo is within a short drive.”

“And then right there in San Francisco, there is banger after banger. San Francisco Golf Club, the Cal Club, where Curry belongs, Olympic is there. There are a dozen of the greatest golf courses that Earth has to offer in that area,” House continued.

Simmons says James should just have fun
With LeBron turning 42 this season, Bill said the legendary forward should focus on having fun in the final stages of his career; he could do just that in Golden State. With a culture that is friendly to veteran players, he will not face much pressure there, be near to his home in Los Angeles, and play golf at some of the best courses the U.S. has to offer.

“See, this should be the Warriors’ pitch. Like, ‘Dude, you already won four titles. You’re going to be in everybody’s top three for eternity. Like you should have fun,” Simmons stated. “Play with Steph Curry. You’re selling out arenas. You’re gonna get to play golf at every course. Like, what are we doing? Just come to us.”
