Local youth golfers took to the course Thursday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club for the GO Junior Golf Series Hopkinsville Series Championship. The event, sponsored by HUB International, Chick-Fil-A of Hopkinsville, and Elder Advantage, featured several competitors from the immediate area playing on the par-71 course.
The tournament officially marked a major milestone for the regional youth sports organization.
“This wraps up our 21st season of the GO Junior Golf Series,” said Mark Price, the series director, who also thanked local communities and media for following the action all summer.
A handful of local athletes from Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell stood out in their respective divisions during the season finale.
In the Boys 13-15 nine-hole division, Hopkinsville’s Will Nahlik shot a 60 to finish as the first flight winner.
The nine-hole Boys 11-12 division featured a pair of area golfers. Elijah Isom of Hopkinsville carded a 47 for his round, while Fort Campbell’s Calvin Johnson secured a first flight victory by turning in a 65.
In the 18-hole divisions, Hopkinsville was represented in the oldest bracket by Henry Riggs, who carded an 88, and Samuel Riggs, who finished the day with a 95 in the Boys 16-18 field. Cole Crick also hit the course for Hopkinsville in the Boys 13-15 18-hole division, finishing his round with a 95.
On the girls’ side, Hopkinsville’s Ella Perry competed in the 18-hole Girls 13-15 division, wrapping up her championship tournament appearance with a score of 94.
