Pair with golf clubs smash up cars and windows in early morning rampage

Two men with golf clubs went on a destructive spree, smashing up cars across Hartlepool overnight.

Police said the pair, dressed in dark clothing and travelling in a dark-coloured car, damaged cars, a front door and windows.

The incidents happened between 4.26am and 6.38am on Wednesday (July 8) across Warren Road, Annandale Crescent, Motherwell Road, Wayfarer Meadows, Hibernian Grove, Chester Road, and Octavia Drive.

Chief Inspector Tom Legg of the Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are aware of reports of damage at a number of properties in the early hours of today which will have caused concern amongst our communities.

“I would like to reassure those victims, and the communities of Hartlepool, that a number of investigative enquiries are ongoing including house-to-house and CCTV reviews, and that we are committed to finding those responsible and protecting people.”
