I coach at least 20 new golfers each week and have watched millions of golf shots. Over that time, I have never asked a golfer to grip the club more firmly.

As a comparative reference what number would you put on grip pressure for a standard iron shot? Thanks for the great videos.
@Dan: would you change your grip pressure based on the season? Would there be a big difference between a wet winter in the UK and a dry summer (if you have one ;)).
Great informational tips on grip pressure. Learned a lot today.
Dan is the man with the master plan
Awesome video, Dan! Short, concise, and to the point.
What a guy Dan is! Had my lesson with him a couple of weeks ago, was unreal
Really appreciate your lessons and the way you add insights helping me to adapt to different situations. Like pointing out when applying different grip pressures as this one. Got the book as well and is now aware of my short game and far better at it than before I decided to go for your methods. Very precise and easy teaching as well. Have watched all clips and still learning some new small details to improve every time. A Teacher with a capitol T 🙂
Dan .. for R1 .. can it be 3 before impact and 4 post impact to hold loft ?
Pure gold.
Would you please do a video or talk about on distance control, say 10-30 yards, using release 1/2/3.
Thanks.
Great stuff Dan, thanks ❤
Hi Dan, hope you read this?!
Great video! I have a problem when hitting a short chip, 2-3 m with not alot of green to work with. If i grip it so lightly it feel if i must make a bigger swimg to generate momentum to get the ball on the green. What usually happens i hit it to hard! Any idea how to approach a short carry with no green to work with?? Thank you!
You make these so easy .
Nice contents and ez to understand. Not too technical. Tq
hahaha when you holed it 🤣
Dan is the GOAT of short game instruction and it’s not particularly close. If you haven’t purchased his book yet, do yourself a favor!
Different Class 👌👌
A lot of nuggets in this wonderful video. Grip pressure does make a difference.
Absolutely brilliant Dan; thank you 😊 That’s the first time I’ve heard/ seen a video covering the grip in the short game in any real detail. I don’t recall it being covered as such in your book but I will go back and double check. I really enjoy your videos on the channel Dan: I don’t do social media (TikTok, Instagram, etc) so, once again, thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and expertise with us mere mortals.
The longer I stand there the stronger my grip gets…. I do this !
Great insight and a challenge my awareness cant wait to give this a go tomorrow. Thanks Dan
Dan the Man is the only youtube channel who will actually make you a better golfer.
Thank you for all your lessons. Been using your technique’s for a while now. My short game is now so consistent compared to 12 months ago. I’ve kept a record of my putting for the last 6 months and my average is now 34 per round thanks to getting so much closer when chipping. 19 handicap as well.
Loved the info
Hi Dan. thanks for this! what kind of shaft do you use for your wedges?? same one as your irons?
You,ve lost weight it seems. Good for you.
Thanks, Dan. The three releases book and your videos have really helped my short game Excel.
DG and SGC are my inspiration and key to short game instruction for me. They have helped me tremendously. KUDOS Dan, you are amazing
The feeling that the light grip soft land shot gives is simply sublime. I love staying for 30 min to an hour after a game just trickling balls on the last green. That effortless shot has to be one of the best feelings in golf
This looks like a practice area found in heaven. Thanks Dan!
Would love to see a witb with you dan, asked last season too and you mentioned it was coming soon.
This may be one of the most valueable short game videos on the internet…
I was struggling a bit and this reminded me of the arm dangle and lightness, shot 36 on the front 9!
Thanks!
Always been the best lessons! Huge Thanks!
Great video. But it appears on the chip and run that you had the ball in the middle of the right foot and a slight club lean towards the hole. On the soft landing, the ball was more towards the middle of your stance, you seem like it was slightly open stance and the club was vertical as opposed to leaning forward. Am I imagining this? Or is it important for technique. Thanks for a great video.
you're videos really saved my short game. I had way too much grip pressure. And because I struggled a lot, it just kept me strangeling that club. Easing off the pressure to what I would call a 2/10 has done sooo much for me. I absolutely love to be on the pitch and chip green now and play with the loose grip 🙂 Big thanks to you Dan. Love the way you teach!!
Great video Dan. Would you change bunker grip pressure of 5 for compact sand?
🙏🙏🤌
