Most golfers obsess over flex but shaft weight is what can really transform your golf game. Watch as Adam (+1 handicap) goes through a full iron fitting at Precision Golf, where small weight adjustments unlock serious gains in consistency, strike quality and shot dispersion.
We start by analysing Adam’s current setup, then dive deep into shaft weight, deadweight and balance. This all helps to reveal why flex takes a back seat to weight in a proper golf club fitting. Testing the Ping Blueprint S irons, we also examine lie angles, shot patterns, and strike points using Trackman to build a set that genuinely fits his swing.

Excellent video. Really enjoyed the discussions here.
idk about this – personally I have found that you adapt really quickly too whatever shaft you are playing if you are a decent golfer and I have had sets with anything from 90g regular to 120 gram x stiff. I do see the problem though and I am round the same speed, low single digits, and play 0.5-0.75 longer clubs, also forged standard lofted clbbs which are really bottom heavy as blades naturally are. .
Golf clubs are already WAY too expensive and these custom fit shops are not making it better in any way – switching those shafts and grips and a custom fitting will cost more than three times what I payed for my clubs. Worth it. No. Way. I will once again just find a demo set with my lie angle, 0.5 longer but with lighter stiff shafts next time. I get what you are doing, by there is no way a few swing weight changes will somehow transform my golf game and magically make me more connected and collect the ball better or whatever you are talking about. That Is just nonsense and just a few range sessions you will hit the ball with exactly the same swing as you had before. Btw I play different shafts in all my woods and hybrids too – works really really well as long as the length is correct and you set up your lie angle/loft properly – the mind and body is really incredible in adapting naturally to gear and most scratch golfers I play with in comps are most often using really old gear – what you are used to works the best – not some magical swing weight solution that can be bought.
Great in depth fitting very well explained 👍🏻
Why such a big discrepancy in swing weight between 4i and 5i?
Great fit Simon! Why is he playing 1 inch over standard? His arms look super long wouldn’t 1/2 inch over do him justice and bring SW down?
