Kazuma Kobori has extended the Kiwi contingent at this month’s Open Championship to three after making it through the final stage of qualifying today.

Kobori will join Ryan Fox and Daniel Hillier in the field at Royal Birkdale in what will be his third major appearance after missing the cut
at the PGA Championship and The Open in 2024.

The world No 207 finished tied for second after two rounds at the West Lancashire qualifying event, helped by a seven-under 65 in the second round.

He finished at nine-under, to secure one of the five spots at the Open which takes place July 16-19.

Masters winners Sergio Garcia and Danny Willett, with YouTube golfers Wesley and George Bryan all failed to qualify at the event.
