I cant believe they included Paul Nicholson on the list & left John Lowe out who won 3 world titles. Imo would have been in the A category.
To have no John Lowe or Bob Anderson in this list is scandalous.
I'd move Barney down to A even though I think he gets a lot of unfair flak these days, I think people forget that when he was winning his BDO world titles the gulf in talent with the PDC wasn't as large, those were good wins. I don't quite have him up there with the likes of Taylor, MVG and Bristow though.
Hard to place Littler and Humphries because they're both still early in their prime, fair to say they both have the quality to be top tier but I wouldn't have them there just yet.
John Lowe is an odd omission? He's easily A tier.
Dennis Priestley is A tier, the second best player in the world for about a decade in the nineties. Jocky Wilson probably A tier as well.
Bobby George was a very good player but he sticks out like a sore thumb next to the rest of the B tier players.
A few other players I'd consider B tier: Bob Anderson, Rob Cross and Michael Smith

These are so difficult to categorize because you have a player like James Wade who is a miles better darts player than the likes of van Barneveld, John Part, Rob Cross, Adrian Lewis, etc but doesn't have the world title like they do. Then you have a guy like Luke Humphries who is an absolutely amazing darts player & almost won everything already but has only been winning majors for a couple of years so it's difficult to put him in the elite tier without the longevity.
Paul Nicholson is an odd one for me .. so many greater darts players. And Gary lower than Barney? Definitely not.
I would add a ranking:
S+: Taylor, Littler, Humphries
S: Anderson, van Gerwen, Bristow, Lowe, van Barneveld
A: Wright, Part
B: Wade, etc.
leave out Nicholson.
All the rankings are far too generous which devalues the exercise.
Bobby George should be a D and deeply flattered to even get a mention amongst the other names.
Wade can’t be higher than a B for never having even reached a World Final.
barny too high imo. only won 1 real worlds and didn't dominate like the rest did at points. Bobby should not be anywhere near dennis and jocky, both of those at least As
James Wade and Adrian Lewis belong in the A bracket and Luke Humphries has definitely done more then enough to belong in the S bracket. Michael asked if it wasn't too early to place Luke Humphries in the S bracket while not hesitating to place Littler there and placing Adrian, a back to back world champion in the B bracket, I was expecting a bit more professionalism in the placing process and where's John Lowe and mr tripple bull Alan Evans?

People will not tell you that Bobby played with a broken back, if at that time he didn't, we all know Bobby would have used him as a rag and cleaned up the stage with him discussing how part didn't even let the people know, and when I said you're words can heart you we'll not tell what should be said, does the same!!! This the reason for parts fall pretend and take credit, for betting a very disabled man at the time said alot about his inner man !!! Sick. The fall was because of this !!!
I think they packed everyone into a narrow range (SAB), when there are clearly differentiators, especially in their B tier. If you are picking these players as being worthy of being ranked at all, then you have to rank them against each other. There is also the difficulty of ranking old school players against players who still have a lot of years left.
I would bump Paul down to D, Bobby and Jocky down to C. Then, I would limit the S tier, moving Eric and Luke Humphries to A, and have B tier filled with the 2x WCs. It’s really hard, though, isn’t it. It would be easier if you only included players who aren’t still competing. Cheers!
