North Carolina Couple Drove Truck Through a Golf Course as a Creative and Questionable “Date Night”

A couple in Indian Trail, North Carolina, was arrested after they allegedly drove through a golf course in what has been described as a very unorthodox “date night.” Furthermore, the vehicle driver, according to the authorities, refused to stop once deputies attempted to bring the chaotic joyride to an end.

According to a Facebook post made by the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO), the incident occurred on Sunday, June 21. During the night, deputies came across a very unusual sight at Charlotte National Golf Course.

Allegedly, UCSO deputies observed a pickup truck driving on the golf cart paths. In an effort to prevent an accident and, of course, damage to the golf course property, a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver, however, didn’t comply and continued with the late-night joyride, the NCSO said. Instead, the pickup truck allegedly returned to the golf course.

Truck Meets Golf Course

The UCSO detailed that the truck traveled across the Charlotte National Golf Course. During this post-traffic-stop eluding attempt, multiple golf course benches were damaged.

Not only that, but as the pickup truck traveled through various greens, tire marks were left. Significant property damage was reported, but the exact amount has yet to be disclosed.

Shortly after, deputies made contact with the vehicle’s registered owner, Nicholas Moore. He would then shed some light on what actually occurred during his alleged illegal golf course pickup truck tour.

Couple Arrested

As per the UCSO, Moore told deputies that he had been in the pickup truck with his girlfriend, Whitney Maske. He then identified her as the driver.

Law enforcement agents instructed the couple to return to the clubhouse. They agreed, and then they were both arrested.

Whitney Maske is charged with fleeing to elude and second-degree trespassing. Nicholas Moore, meanwhile, is charged with second-degree trespassing. Both of them received a $1,500 unsecured bond.

Another Golf Course Incident

The very same day, in Greece, New York, a 19-year-old identified as Zachary Granito-Hertz got in trouble for a very similar incident. Allegedly, he led the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on a chase through a golf course.

As reported by WHEC, the incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. At the time, deputies attempted to pull over a Hyundai Tucson on Lake Avenue after a license plate reader flagged it. The driver, as per the MCSO, refused to stop.

A pursuit began, and, eventually, the Tucson left the road and entered the Lakeshore Country Club, damaging the course. Near the 18th hole, Granito-Hertz jumped from his moving vehicle and attempted to run away, the sheriff’s office said. He, however, was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, among others.
