Who should I film with next? 📽
Yeah, that stuff works whe you know the attacker isnt really trying to kill you & it’s done in slow motion…😂 when you attack with a sword or blade rhe first contact is the sharp edge with the targets body, they don’t get close to you before swinging, not everybody is an idi0t mugger trying to intimidate.most knife attacks I’ve seen footage of the blade is used as an extension of the punch, used from a distance threat doesn’t allow the victim to get close enough to do any of this martial arts stuff, if you can’t run away your getting stabbed/cut
Answered my first question jabbing or poking with knife just run away
Jesse you are such a good sport about this.
Silat is a highly defensive combat-oriented martial art that is famous for its specialized weapon-defense and disarming techniques.
In a fight, he is like no one I've ever seen but to make the right decision the first time requires perfect knowledge. Anyone with kids knows they add truth you did not see. To refuse to change can be a terrible mistake. Once greater knowledge is gained, to pivot to the best decision is a far wiser use of energy. Anything else is pride and stubbornness and those around you suffer.
Silat style in defense against a knife or potential knife attack is very simple, but too long at the same time.
First of all, in the street, anyone who carries a knife will never show it to you, and will approach you from where you do not see, or ambush you or just start a brawl and then stab you when they have enough people with them, or there is no one around.
So, when you fight because you have to fight, and especially if you saw signs that your opponent is crying a knife, then do not let them make a second move.
You stay away or push them, and they might punch you or rip your shirt or even bite you.
But if they keep coming then the choice of fighting or not fighting is stupid, you either run or fight.
If you defend yourself and your opponent throws the knife away and pretends to be the victims, then do not worry, you kept yourself alive and stopped him or her fighting you.
If they get hurt, it is their fault even if the law says that you are the attacker or their lawyer has their way of making you look like the aggressor.
What the law says about it is one thing and you staying alive is another.
But remember that you.ust refrain from all forms of violence at all times and only fight if you must and absolutely must fight.
I do.martial arts to stay fit and that is all and I will not teach others even if they pay me.
Because if I have control and can control myself, I am not sure others will have the same control once I teach them how to over take their opponent fast.
This teacher is amazing.
Pure fantasy, doesn't work in real life
Yeah it's a normal occurance here in Indonesia to see the news sounding like "a robber killed by the victim doing self-defense with silat" … Silat is both a martial and art at the same time
I have seen a relatively casual Silat student (my then boss, about 50 years old, trained on and off over the years, but more like a sport) take on three coked up street robbers. Yes, that was quite terrifying. For the robbers. Two had knives… For about a second or two. It was a short flurry and to me (I confess I was quite tipsy at that time) it looked like he simply took a few steps towards them and did a quick magic trick, and they just simply collapsed, first one, then another, while the third coward just ran away. Then I just sat my fat ass on one of the guys' shoulders and he had his knee on the other guy's shoulders, and then someone called the cops and they were arrested. That was my first and last encounter with Silat in the real world. It Just Works.
No, I am sorry, love this channel, but no way would you stop a knife, no matter how awesome you are, you are going to get cut and stabbed.
It's always a great sign when the Instructor encourages follow up attacks vs "strike and pose". In real life, nobody stops after one stab so it's great they train for the follow ups.
Also love the point about not being able to counter someone just flinching at you. Another good reason to not stand there while they do that is repeated faints/flinches at you dull your reaction time so it would make it harder to not get hit with the first strike.
This is the realest and most practical silat I've ever seen. And I even live in Indonesia
No one who knows anything about Knife Fighting attacks like him
Never ever
I know that after 45 Years of Jiu- Jitsu Combat and Dju- Su
and his name is "Maul"..🙃
First 30 seconds where he pulls out the blicky makes him the realest instructor out there 😂
He's using the sai almost like tonfa. I like it
The best technique when you face someone with machete is run when you have a chance
As a person who grew up in silat family..silat movement are the combination of all kind of martial arts in the world.. remember what he had shown you mostly similar with Bruce Lee jet kundo , Jackie Chan Kung Fu ,Muay Thai etc
Until he meets someone that is even half decent with knife or machete lol….
(to be fair, that guy also has to have an idea about the Silat skills of his opponent)
tried to rob this guy once with a machete mf pulled out double rambo knifes and stabbed tf outta me learned my lesson
martial arts are total BS for the most. They are not USELESS. Because they are still useful at the end. But the premise is all wrong all the time. Real fight are much more cruel, faster and noisy.
The rule is to RUN FAST when u face a derange guy with machete
I learn silat at 8 year old but I'm not complete my training
Great pod, loved the breakdowns.
I had the opportunity to learn some Krav , so I compare what I have learned to, and now hearing your explanations and vedio is a treat!
Thanks .
Respectfully Bryan
bro literally just said punch them hard 😭😭
The goal of Pencak Silat is to kill. If you can't achieve the best results, your opponent will be seriously injured, so don't expect Pencak Silat to have beautiful movements or modern martial arts rules.
If anybody tells you he can defend against a knife He s a fake Fighter. Hes fake. Dont believe this nonsense
Now try with a stranger who isn’t using a prearranged attack line. Just give them a red marker and see if your shirt stays clean.
thank you both masters for showing us the beauty of pencak silat and its philosophy
Jaja bla bla❤
A lot of individuals see these techniques and would say ‘I would counter that, this way’ not realizing that things are slowed so that you can see how it works. In reality, this happens real quick to the point that your brain freezes for a split second. Those counter moves are out the window
Silat is not for self defense or someone called martial arts… its technic for killing enemies with arts…😮
2:44 This is what i struggle to understand. How do you stay on point in a fight with adrenaline pumping? Because all of that extra energy is going to make you jittery and potentially get you sliced👀
This guy is so badass!!!!
What a great teacher, good lessons not only about martial arts, but general life wisdom as well
crazy thing is this would actually work cause most people retarded
im proud because im malay. And silat is from malay
Just Wow!
