Tiger Woods is focusing on his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, amid her cancer journey.

The golf star, 50, “has been amazing during Vanessa’s recent diagnosis” and is primarily focused on being there for her during her cancer treatment after his own recent medical and legal issues, a source tells PEOPLE. Trump, 48, announced her breast cancer diagnosis on May 20.

“Vanessa’s needs and issues have taken Tiger’s thoughts outside of his own legal, medical and personal struggles, which has been good for him,” the insider adds to PEOPLE. “He has given her a lot of love — even while away working on himself. It shows he has character.”

On Saturday, June 13, Trump revealed on Instagram that she’s “been recovering from surgery” and is now “starting the second stage of my treatment.”

The health update came a day after Woods was spotted back home in Florida after going to rehab in Switzerland. The pro golfer underwent treatment overseas following his car crash and DUI charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges on March 31, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Woods completed six weeks of treatment from April to early May before returning to the U.S. on May 13 to support Trump amid her breast cancer diagnosis, sources told PEOPLE.

Woods and Trump “are optimistic about her treatments and in the coming months battling breast cancer,” a source in Jupiter tells PEOPLE.

“Like anyone diagnosed with this disease, she is anxious but also strong and eager to move beyond,” says the source. “She is loved and receiving a great deal of support … With all of the advanced treatments and excellent healthcare facilities around her, Vanessa will continue to receive top-notch care.”

The insider added that the mom-of-five “will face some challenges in treatment but is equipped to handle it.”

Woods and Trump confirmed their relationship on social media in March 2025.

Trump shares five children with her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr. — Kai, 19; Donald, 17; Tristan, 14; Spencer, 13; and Chloe, 11.

Woods shares his two kids, daughter Sam Alexis, 18, and son Charlie Axel, 17, with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren.

A golf source tells PEOPLE that Woods’ rehab stint was something he needed to do for his own personal reasons.

“In order to return to golf, which he wants to do, Tiger needed to get a handle on the pain and injuries and other issues a 50-year-old has playing the game,” the insider tells PEOPLE. “There are plenty of opportunities for him once he is ready to tackle it again.”

The source adds that Woods’ plan was a three-month program, which he has come close to completing.

“Tiger is resilient and doing pretty well,” another golf source tells PEOPLE. “Nobody should rule him out as far as his career in golf. It could just look different.”
