Taylor Fritz fought past Ben Shelton 7-6(7), 6-7(8), 7-6(3) at the OWL Arena in a Halle Open quarter-final that produced 39 combined aces and zero breaks of serve.
Fritz served 24 aces to Shelton’s 15, won two of three tiebreaks and converted no break points – because neither player needed to. In his post-match press conference he reflects on the mental demands of a match where every set lived and died on a tiebreak.
