THE TRUTH: Are Costco's $200 Wedges Any Good?

THE TRUTH: Are Costco’s $200 Wedges Any Good?

The new $200 Costco Kirkland Gen 3 Forged wedges just went head-to-head with a full bag of Vokeys — and the spin numbers weren’t what we expected.
We stacked the Gen 3 set against the Gen 2 Kirklands, Titleist Vokey, Mizuno, and Takomo on the launch monitor: spin, feel, turf interaction, and dollar-for-dollar value.
Stick around for the full-swing spin comparison at 7:10 — the gap between the $67 Kirkland and the $189 Vokey is the part nobody saw coming.

In this video we test the all-new Kirkland Signature Gen 3 Forged wedge set ($199.99 for the 52°, 56°, and 60°) against the wedges golfers actually game. We compare spin rates, launch, feel, and forgiveness on full shots and around the green, then put the Costco set up against the Titleist Vokey SM10, Mizuno, Takomo, and the previous Gen 2 Kirklands. If you’re a mid-handicap golfer wondering whether Costco’s forged wedges can really replace a $570 set of premium wedges, this is the honest test you’ve been looking for.

  1. Hey guys love your content. Been following you guys for a while now. Your reviews have helped me up my game. Keep up the good work. Always entertaining to watch you guys.

  2. The vokey rep at US open said the pros are getting new wedges every 2 weeks, month, 3-6 months depending on lob, sand, gap, Pw

Probably too much effort to make a forged for consumers and more repeatable cast for pros

  3. These are 159 in store, 199 online, so even cheaper. Definitely the best wedges if you just need something basic to fill the bag, and you don't wanna spend $200 a wedge.

  4. Bought all new wedges last year and got them 1” long. Last year I just had a bad back. This year I’m lost op from s1-l4 lumbar fusion. Definitely glad I bought them an inch long.

  5. I'm confused. They say the wedges are competing with the best of the best in wedges yet they think you should eventually upgrade, but why upgrade and upgrade to what if they are versatile wedges? Just cause you don't want people see you swinging a Kirkland?

  6. You all need to test the Maltby DRT wedges. They’re forged. Have multiple grind and loft options. Can choose from many shafts. I had a DRT-S grind 60 built with a DG Tour Issue X100. Even we’re able to substitute the 8-iron shaft to meet my needs. Cost $117. There’s no better deal out there.

ETA: It was also built to my spec within a couple days of placing the order. Granted, I'm near their headquarters and could pick it up in person. Still, they are pretty quick with the builds. Even for custom requests.

  7. I used the Gen 2 Kirkland wedges for two years when I started playing legit golf. You can't beat the value! They are really good for the price point. I just upgraded to the new MG5s and there is a differece, but it's not a huge difference. For the average golfer who plays a couple times a month, go with these and you won't be dissapointed.

  8. I was told by multiples coaches and fitters if you play a lot you should replace your wedges every year. If you’re special like a pro you get new grooves every weekend.

But changing those wedges every year is for people who play and practice more than once a week.

  9. I sold my set of sm10’s for the takomo’s and have no plans to go back. Around the green I’ve been 5 feet closer to the pin on average since switching.

  10. You can easily play Takomo from driver to wedges and play well. The clubs you play do not make a ton of difference until you are playing professionally. (Super cheap Temu or Amazon garbage excluded). But, Ping, Callaway, Taylormade, Titleist, Srixon, Wilson, Cobra, Takomo, etc… it is pretty much all the same driver, irons, wedges. Save your money for balls, green fees, and beverage cart.

  11. Question: why would you be ok the most with someone skimping on wedges when they’re going to hit them the most out of any other clubs? And bounces make such a huge difference based on where they are playing?

  12. got mine when the get 3 first came out and fricken love them way more than my Clevelands!returned the gun 2 that I had for only a few months

  13. Its a company out of southern cal that designs the wedges. The company's name is Southern California design company in Carlsbad Ca.The golf balls and gen 3 wedges are made by a company called SM Global/SM Parker golf in Qingdao China

  14. I play the mizuno s1 and my buddy just started out playing and he bought these and I have to say they are great for the price i would play these he used the 400 dollars he saved and bought a 7 wood.

  15. Just got mine delivered yesterday. I replaced grips and saw the manufacturer date as may 30 2026 when I removed the standard grips. Feel amazing.

  16. I game the 2nd gen Kirklands in the sand and gap wedge and I love them. I bought a set of Vokey SM 10 wedges to upgrade after playing the Kirklands for 2 years and immediately hated them. I’ve hit some of my best shots with the Kirkland wedges and they’re not coming out of the bag anytime soon. I can’t recommend them enough
