Is This the Biggest Lie in Golf Equipment?

Have golf companies been selling us a lie about iron forgiveness AND performance?!

We matched THREE completely different TaylorMade irons to the EXACT same 31° loft… and the results were eye-opening.

Then we put them through one of the most in-depth forgiveness tests we’ve ever filmed to find out if “more forgiving” is real… or just marketing.

In this video, we compare the TaylorMade Qi Max HL, P790 and P7CB irons with one major twist – they’re all built to the SAME 31° loft.

First, we test centre strikes to see how they really compare when loft is no longer influencing the results. Then we deliberately hit toe, heel, and low-face strikes in an in-depth forgiveness test to discover whether game improvement irons genuinely offer a significant advantage… or whether the marketing has been overstating the truth.

This is one of the fairest and most comprehensive iron comparisons we’ve ever conducted, removing as many variables as possible to focus on what actually matters.

If you enjoy honest golf equipment testing, data-driven custom fitting, and myth-busting content that cuts through the marketing hype, make sure you’re subscribed to Elite Performance Golf Studios.

  1. Absolutely love it! Said this forever, play what you like and forget the marketing! Usually a physics equation where lower spin carries ball further and the "tech" really isn't doing much. Especially if you're going to miss it that badly, it truly doesn't matter which club you're swinging.

  2. Just goes to show, get fitted for what works….marketing is targeted at certain groups but the reality is hit what works for you⛳️🏌🏻🤷🏼‍♂️

  3. Titleist gets it right. You want a 5 mph ball speed gap between clubs, and you go to a more forgiving club when you lose confidence in that club. For some, that will mean a ton of woods and hybrids. For others, it means a combo set. I don't see how almost anyone benefits from a loft-jacked hollow body PW, though…
