Golfweek has released its 2026 ranking of the nation’s best modern golf courses, and four New York courses made the list.
The ranking evaluates the top 200 U.S. golf courses that opened after 1960, based on ratings from Golfweek’s panel of course evaluators.
According to Golfweek, each course must receive at least 25 ratings from panel members to be eligible. Only rounds played within the past 10 years are considered, helping ensure courses continue to meet the publication’s standards over time.
Which New York golf courses made the list?
Sebonack Golf Club during the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open at Southampton, N.Y.
Four private New York courses were included in Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses ranking for 2026:
Friar’s Head (No. 2), Baiting Hollow, Suffolk County. Opened in 2003.
The Bridge (No. 111), Bridgehampton, Suffolk County. Opened in 2002.
Three of the four New York courses are located on Long Island, with Friar’s Head and Sebonack both earning spots in the top 10 nationwide.
