U.S. leads 4-2 after opening day
What a start for USA at home. Avery Weed knocks in a birdie on the 16th, and the hosts take foursomes 2-1 and lead 4-2 after the opening day.
USA retakes lead after bounceback
A strong afternoon for Kelly Xu and Anna Davis after losing in the morning. The duo take their foursomes match with a 4-and-3 victory and move USA back in front.
GB&I ties Curtis Cup after winning first match
The star American duo flames out on the back nine at Bel-Air. Beth Coulter and Isla McDonald-O’Brien, who sat in the morning and are former teammates at Arizona State, win four straight holes with pars to knock out the Americans, 3 and 2. And the Curtis Cup is tied at 2.
Incredible par for Anna Davis and Kelly Xu
From disaster to winning the hole. Even the replay will make you wonder how Anna Davis and Kelly Xu avoided disaster in the second match and ended up winning the famous par-3 10th hole.
USA trying to mount comeback in third match
Patience Rhodes and Sophia Fullbrook were the only GB&I winners in the morning match and started strong in the afternoon, leading 2 up after 5. However, the USA got one back on the seventh hole after Avery Weed knocks in the birdie look.
Kiara Romero’s irons are dialed
The World No. 1 amateur is feeling it with her irons. She teed off on the par-3 third and fifth holes, and the result is a pair of birdies for the Americans. Her approach on 3 went to 2 feet and to about 5 feet on 5. From 1 down to 1 up thru 5.
Afternoon session underway
Foursomes is underway, with USA’s Kiara Romero burying a lengthy par putt just to tie the first hole. However, GB&I goes 1 up after Isla McDonald-O’Brien makes a birdie on the second.

USA takes 2-1 lead into afternoon foursomes
Farah O’Keefe walked it in. The rising senior at Texas and NCAA individual champion from 18 days ago walks in the birdie on the 18th to give the USA a 2-up win in the anchor match. The Americans lead 2-1 going into the afternoon session with pairings coming soon. In the last Curtis Cup, the USA won only 1½ points total in two four-ball sessions.
GB&I takes second match
Patience Rhodes pours in the par putt on the 17th hole, and GB&I gets its first point of the Curtis Cup, tying the match at one. Rhodes and Sophia Fullbrook win, 2 and 1.
USA earns first point
Kiara Romero hits a brilliant approach into the par-3 16th, and the U.S. wins in the leadoff match, 4 and 2. A stellar showing from the world No. 1 and Asterisk Talley. The duo were 8 under thru 16 holes to win the first point of the Curtis Cup. In 2024, Team USA won only one four-ball match at Sunningdale. They’re 1-for-1 at Bel-Air.
GB&I trying to fight back
Asterisk Talley and Kiara Romero led 5 up with 7 to go in the opening match, but that’s back to 3 up with four to play as GB&I is doing its best to earn at least a half point. At the same time, in the second match, Anna Davis and Kelly Xu has battled back from a 5-down deficit and now trail only 2 down. And in the last match, GB&I tied it up after being 2 down at multiple points. Some tight matches coming down the stretch.
Asterisk Talley nearly aces the 10th
It’s the signature home at Bel-Air, and Asterisk Talley almost had the best shot of the week on Friday morning at the par-3 10th. She hits it to a couple feet and pours in the birdie to give her and Kiara Romero a 4-up lead.
Two matches in full control
Both USA and GB&I have full grasp of early matches. Kiara Romero and Asterisk Talley, the world No. 1 amateur and top-ranked junior, are 4 up thru 7 and 5 under as a team. Meanwhile, Patience Rhodes and Sophia Fullbrook are also 5 under thru 7 and have a 5-up lead in the second match.
The U.S. leads 2 up thru 6 in the third match.
A trend to watch
In the 2024 Curtis Cup, GB&I won 4½ of the six total points in four-ball. Early Friday, the U.S. has a two-up lead in two of the three matches and while looking to buck that trend.
GB&I strikes first
The first won hole of the Curtis Cup goes the way of GB&I in the second match. Sophia Fullbrook and Patience Rhodes eagle the par-5 first hole to go 1 up, and then the duo birdies the second hole to go 2 up.
In the other two matches, the Americans have taken the lead, though it’s only 1 up early.
Curtis Cup officially underway
It’s a gray morning at Bel-Air, but that won’t dampen spirits at the Curtis Cup, which is underway. Lily Hirst hit the opening tee shot for GB&I.
