JORDAN — Minnewaska junior Annika DeBoer secured a top-three finish while helping her team finish fifth in the Class AA State Girls Golf Championship on Wednesday.
Minnewaska followed up its 336 on Tuesday with a 329 on Wednesday for a total of 665 at the Ridges at Sand Creek. Detroit Lakes claimed its third straight girls’ team title with 625. Hill-Murray was second with 636.
After carding a five-over par 77 on Day 1, DeBoer shot an even 72 for a two-day total of 149. That tied her with Holy Family’s Keira Schuster for third.
Detroit Lakes’ Sophie Christianson claimed the Class AA championship with a 147. Totino-Grace’s Taylor Nelsen was the runner-up with 148.
Minnewaska’s Kyra Nelson tied for 38th with 171. Anna Kollman tied for 46th with 174.
In the boys’ competition, New London-Spicer’s Max Truscinski earned a state medal after tying for fourth place. The Wildcats’ eighth-grader shot a one-under par 71 to put his two-day total at 145. Also for NLS, Gabe Truscinski tied for 29th with 152 and Reid Kath tied for 53rd with 157.
Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin tied for 12th with 148.
Southwest Christian’s Henry Johnson was the state champion with 138. Blake claimed the team title with 585, beating Southwest Christian by three strokes.

Willmar’s Kennedy Mara capped off her prep career with a nine-shot improvement on Day 2 of the Class AAA State Championship at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids.
Mara shot an eight-over 80 on Day 2. Combined with her 91 on Tuesday, Mara finished tied for 57th place with 171. Starting her day on the back nine, Mara scored birdies on holes 11, 13 and 16.
Cardinals sophomore Raelynn Means finished in 68th with 176. She shot an 86 on Day 1 and carded a 90 on Day 2.
Led by state champion Ruby Reding, Minnetonka claimed the girls’ team title with 588. Reding claimed the individual championship with a three-under 141.
Brainerd secured the boys’ championship with 574. Benilde-St. Margaret’s was second with 586.
Elk River’s William Roiland was the boys’ individual champion after compiling a five-under 139.
