I Played the World’s Oldest Female Scratch Golfer

Hollis Stacy is a World Golf Hall of Famer and a four-time Women’s Major Champ. She’s also 72 years old and still a scratch golfer. Less than 1% of women ever reach scratch. Hollis got there as a kid and has never let go.

In this match, Performance Golf CEO Brixton Albert, a scratch golfer himself, meets Hollis for a 9-hole match play to settle one question: does age actually matter in golf? To even it out, Hollis plays a course set about 1,000 yards shorter, they put a friendly five dollars on the line, and they go shot for shot down a tight, demanding track.

Between shots, Hollis opens up about the day she broke 90 at 11 years old and carried the scorecard in her back pocket, her father, a wounded World War II vet, walking 18 holes to watch her very first win in 1977, why she replaced both knees and a shoulder just to get her golf swing back, the mental game that separates major winners from everyone else, and the single best piece of advice you’ll hear all year: treat yourself like your own best friend. It’s part golf clinic, part life lesson, and the match comes right down to the final hole.

  1. I’ve never watched this guy’s content before, but I have to say, he is awesome. Very gracious and a great interviewer. Unlike a lot of other golf influencer clowns.

  2. This is a fantastic video. What a player Hollis Stacy is and she clearly has a HOF record. Makes it look effortless, which I guess is her point. Rhythm and tempo is the key. Interesting she mentioned Lydia Ko twice because that’s who I thought of when seeing Hollis play.

  3. I remember as an 8 handicapper, catching up with an old lady who was also playing on her own. She asked if I'd like to join her for the rest of the round.. I'd hoped she was just going to wave me through, but not wishing to be rude, I agreed to join her.. She hit every fairway and green in regulation and didn't 3 putt once. Turns out that this old gal used to play for the Scottish women's team in her younger day and was no slouch. A joy to watch.

  4. Wait why does it matter where the sun is setting when putting??? Is this something I'm missing. She was amazing just amazing. Imagine shooting your age as your handicap!

  5. Great to see Hollis again making great golf content, giving out some wisdom for life. Loved the Pat Perez story and her "Sit Ubu, Sit" comments. By the way, the phrase was about UBU products, often after shows like Family Ties in the 1980s. The actual dog, Ubu Roi, died in 1984. Good luck to her in the upcoming tournament!

  6. WOW! That was beautiful! Best golf video of 2026. I so remember Hollis back in the 70 s and 80s. Curtis Cup team member too.

What a fantastic piece of advice. "Treat yourself like your best friend." I will remember that for ever

What an inspirational video. My goal is to break my age. After 35 years out of golf (played off 1 as a youngster) and 2 new knees, I'm back into it. Target max 74 when I am max 75. I am now 68. (My dad did 75 when he was 76 and by the time he was 80 almost always broke his age)

  7. A Georgia girl from a beautiful town. What a treasure we have had. I wish my cousin Vinny had signed her to his agency. Such a fine golfer. He represented Daniel, Love and Kite.

  8. I just love how EVERY, SINGLE, SHOT is "not good" or just "alright" for golfers. One of the few sports that they are way too harsh on themselves. He is hitting shots to 10 feet and upset LOL. Gotta love it 🙂

  9. I realize that this dude thinks he's being a chill bro, but so much of what he says to her is condescending. This lady has hit great shot after great shot for decades and he acts surprised every time, like he expects her to break a hip just because she's 72.
