Golf tournament in Dorset raises more than £57,000 for community projects

A charity golf tournament in Dorset has raised more than £57,000 to support community projects.

Organised by the Churchill Foundation, the bi-annual event took place on Tuesday, June 2, at Remedy Oak Golf Club near Wimborne and raised £57,780 to help fund the charity’s ongoing work in communities across the country.

Clinton McCarthy, co-founder of Churchill Living and trustee of the Churchill Foundation, said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the teams who took part and everyone who donated, sponsored and helped make this year’s golf tournament such a success.

“The impressive total funds raised will continue to fuel the Churchill Foundation’s mission of creating positive change in the communities where we operate, supporting a wide range of good causes and helping to make a real difference for people of all ages.”

A total of 22 teams competed on the PGA course, with BCP Media, led by Sam Thomas, finishing first.

Orona took second place, while Churchill Living placed third.

The event’s main sponsor was Shoosmiths, with additional support from Clear Insurance Management and Peter Cooper Motor Group.

Annie Frederick, manager of the Churchill Foundation, spoke at the event, highlighting personal stories of individuals and communities who have benefitted from the charity’s work, especially as the foundation marks its 10th anniversary year and recently surpassed £3.5 million in fundraising to date.
