How Kimi drove the lap by Peter Windsor

Here’s the video version of Peter’s chat with Cameron on Monday – specifically his response to the fundamental questions embracing Monaco, 2026: “what did you make of Kimi Antonelli in qualifying” and “how did Kimi withstand the pressure?”

  1. Monaco had convinced me that he would be a worthy Champion. He stayed out of the barriers, prised pole position from Max and held his nerve through the start and 2 restarts. This also proves that Monaco deserves to be on the calendar.

  2. We are obviously witnessing someone very special in Kimi, I am finding this a bit monotonous. Not his fault at all but 5 poles and 5 wins in a row… Amazing but a bit yawn 🥱
Normally, the pressure would have kicked in by now and you would expect a few blips on performance but no.
He has the best car and so does George. If Kimi can keep this up, I will be very impressed.

Honestly, I expect a performance drop off at some point; he hasn’t had any of George’s miserable luck, yet. He inevitably will hit a patch of not winning but he can win without winning.

  3. There is a observation already in the comments that I agree with, that Monaco has now confirmed my opinion & some surprise that we now have a genius driver with effortless talent that will be a joy to watch in the future.

  4. Peter,, I think a lot of people weren't believing that Toto had discovered a true genius, naturally fast driver,, but your description, drawing on years of experience looking closely at the driving style of umpteen great F1 drivers, convinced me,, Kimi is great,, even as a teenager!!!!!
