NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — Golfers gathered for the annual Save of the Day Foundation golf tournament fundraiser at Stonebridge Golf and Country Club in New Hartford.

The event is organized by the foundation, which was started by a group of friends, including Chairman Rob Esche.

Esche explained that the idea began as a conversation among friends and has since grown into a major community event.

“A lot of close friends, a lot of great community leaders that have continuously donated to this. You know, we’ve raised over $3 million, which means that’s three million dollars that have been going into the community. Obviously, the Utica Comets are a big part of that—Utica City FC team—so it’s been fun and exciting. And it’s a lot of hard work, but a lot of good stuff too,” Esche said.

Last year, the fundraiser brought in $115,000.

This year, organizers are trying to reach $160,000.
