University of Minnesota officials are weighing a developer’s bid to buy the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights for $30.5 million.

The U announced its intent to sell the 141-acre property one year ago, citing financial pressure and the looming investments needed to keep the outdated course running.

The golf course closed for good at the end of the 2025 season, and Ramsey County and Falcon Heights officials said they wouldn’t pursue purchasing the land.

On Thursday, June 11, the U’s Board of Regents are expected to review a potential sale St. Michael-based Rachel Development, Inc. for residential and supporting mixed-use development.

“Net proceeds will be reinvested into long-term institutional priorities through the standard budget process, with an emphasis on supporting the St. Paul portion of the Twin Cities campus,” the agenda reads, noting that $1 million expected to go towards a philanthropic matching program supporting the men’s and women’s golf programs.
