A popular charity golf day is set to return to a Wimborne club, uniting celebrities, local golfers and supporters in a day of sport, entertainment and fundraising.
Remedy Oak Golf Club, in Horton Road, is set to host its annual MJL Golf charity event in Wimborne on Tuesday, June 23. Organisers said they are looking to build on more than £200,000 which was raised for a range of local and national good causes over the past six years.
The annual event has become a key date in the region’s fundraising calendar, attracting sports personalities, celebrities and local businesses for a full day of golf followed by evening entertainment.

Amanda Larner, Chairman of Inert Recycling UK Ltd, said: “We have been supporting initially Winchester Hospice the hospice, team were an amazing support.”
This year’s beneficiaries include Winchester Hospice, which provides support for those suffering with cancer, with organisers highlighting the personal connection behind the fundraising efforts following treatment and care received there.
The volunteer led hospice charity provides diagnostic equipment and screening support, with a dedicated testing day being funded this July. The initiative aims to screen more than 100 men in a single day.

Amanda added: “My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and we found an amazing local charity that has no funding, run by prostate cancer survivors,” Mrs Larner added, underlining the personal motivation behind the expansion of causes supported.
Other beneficiaries include charities connected to TOF (trachea-oesophageal fistula), a rare condition affecting families such as Mrs Larner’s niece, alongside children’s cancer ward music therapy group George’s Rockstars.
“We also fund George’s Rockstars and a drama class for vulnerable children,” she said. “My niece has a condition called TOF, so we support them as they are also non funded.”

A drama programme for vulnerable, low-income and at-risk schoolchildren is also funded, using creative and acting-based therapy to support emotional wellbeing, alongside additional local charities identified each year where support is most needed.
“Over the last six years we have raised over £200,000,” Mrs Larner said.
The day begins with a shotgun start at 11am at Remedy Oak Golf Club, followed by a three-course dinner, live auction, and evening entertainment featuring comedy, magic, and presentation awards.
Celebrity support continues to play a major role, with former footballers Les Ferdinand and Andy Cole among those taking part, alongside professional golfer Georgia Hall and other well-known names from sport and entertainment.
