After 12 years of our annual Summer Swing charity event, Thursday 11th July 2019 was the day that our total raised over the years hit the £1 million!

The 2019 Summer Swing was held at The Mere Golf & Spa Resort, once again followed the format of a charity golf day followed by a gala evening of entertainment, all designed to raise money for the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation set up by St. James’s Place Wealth Management, of which FFM are a senior partner practice of.

The St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation is one of the most successful corporate foundations in the UK. All monies raised by the fundraising efforts of partners and employees of St. James’s Place are matched by St. James’s Place Wealth Management. This has resulted in the Charitable Foundation raising over £85 million since its inception in 1992.

They distribute the funds through grants to thousands of charities, many of them in local communities, and have been able to give substantial support to: Hope and Homes for Children, Teenage Cancer Trust, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, Education for the Children Foundation.

Each year, FFM also nominate a Pledge Charity – a local, particularly worthy cause which attendees are able to support through pledging to donate a specific amount which will go directly to the chosen charity.

The Pledge Charity this year was The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) based in Millington, Cheshire.

CAFT is a special place where terminally ill, disabled and socially disadvantaged children can have a break away from their circumstances, and the amount raised through pledges at Summer Swing following matching from St. James’s Place Wealth Management was £39,000 – which will enable 70 children to have a 5-day break there.

The Summer Swing Golf Day, sponsored by solicitors SAS Daniels and Porsche Centre Wilmslow, was followed by a gala dinner, sponsored by currency transfer specialists, TorFX, at The Mere with entertainment provided by X Factor winner Sam Bailey and ventriloquist Jimmy Tamley.

The total raised for the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation over the whole Summer Swing event was £86,250. After matching by St. James’s Place Wealth Management, that became £172,500 – enough to take the total raised by all the Summer Swing events over the years to exactly £1 million!

FFM would like to again thank everyone involved with the Summer Swing and the generosity showed by supporters throughout the run up, the day and the night of the event. Without this support, the event would not be possible and we are incredibly grateful for it.
