The summer schedule for one of the most recognizable junior golfers is shaping up to be a busy one — and it begins with a notable shift in his standing among the game’s top juniors.
Charlie Woods slipped to No. 149 in the latest American Junior Golf Association rankings, a fall of 136 spots following a tied-for-28th finish at the 2026 Team TaylorMade Invitational. But the drop owes as much to timing as it does performance.

With the calendar turning, Woods’ breakthrough victory at the 2025 Team TaylorMade Invitational — his first AJGA title— aged out of the ranking formula, removing a significant pillar from his résumé. His best remaining result is now a tie for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship in July 2025.

Still, the path forward is lined with opportunity.
Woods, a Florida State commit, recently secured his place in the U.S. Junior Amateur and is expected to earn an automatic berth into the Junior PGA Championship later that month in Texas based on his previous top-20 AJGA status.
The 17-year-old son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods outlasted the field in a 2-for-1 playoff at Heathrow Country Club in Florida, claiming the final of five qualifying spots for the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur, set for July 20–25 at Saucon Valley in Pennsylvania.

Woods carded a 3-under 68 to finish tied for fifth, forcing a playoff with Eric Zhao. He piled up seven birdies, finishing in style with three in a row on Nos. 16 through 18 to surge into contention and give himself a chance.
