Scottie Scheffler speaks ahead of The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village, where he arrives as the two-time defending champion with a chance to win the same PGA Tour event three years in a row.
The World No. 1 discusses the challenge of “Jack’s Place”, the firm conditions expected this week, why Muirfield rewards commitment and ball-striking, and what makes the tournament so special because of Jack Nicklaus’ legacy.
Scheffler also talks about his recent visit to Shinnecock Hills ahead of the U.S. Open, his views on the golf ball rollback debate, the importance of pathways for young players through PGA Tour University, and how he feels about his own game this season.

They destroyed Torrey pines when the redid the course to a monster smash and gouge course. Most people now take almost 6 hours to play it today because of this. They took out all the great pines (illegally) and in doing so, removed the soul of the original design. Now, probably one of the most overrated courses there is.
That last question was, as the kids would say, diabolical. Basically “Who’s the dumbest guy on Tour?” 😂
Even I, a literal hack golfer, could design a course that no pro could par.
He gives answers worth way more than whatever they’re paying him
This was probably his most well mannered presser I've seen
The answer he gave on the golf ball rollback was spot on. So many tour stops are set up to just knock it a mile so naturally thats what they will do. Tighten the landing areas with rough and trees and then you won’t be seeing 340 yd tee balls be the norm. I personally don’t think it’s going to happen mainly for the millions of recreational golfers who do not possess the skills they do.We certainly don’t think we hit it too far.
