  1. Not sure I understand the distinction here. Isn't the greatest all-time player the same as the greatest player of all time? Is he saying Nicklaus was the greatest player of his era? Also small point but as Sampras once said there is no such thing as a greatest of all time, because time hasn't finished yet…and yes I know, greatest player so far doesn't have the same ring…

  2. Jack Nicklaus is the Doyle Brunson of golf. Brunson won back to back wsop. There was 22 entrants when he won. Now thereโ€™s over 10,000 people who play for the ring . Thatโ€™s what Daly is trying to say and it makes sense

  3. Oh stop…Rorys record beats them all.More competition than either of those guys ever faced put together. He still finishes top 10 more than they ever did and hes not even close to being finished.give him 10 more years and see what the record says then.Kills you boys that an Irish guy will wipe all your eyes
    RORY…….GOAT for sure.

  4. Jack played against more โ€œwinnersโ€ Tiger as great as he was didnโ€™t have the same type of competitor. Too much money for 2nd-10th to really be hungry to win.
    Trevino
    Palmer
    Miller
    Watson
    Casper
    Player
    Floyd
    Norman
    Snead
    Hogan

  5. Jack Played against Serious Great golfers who Needed to win because they needed the money. He could get beat by great players Trevino Watson Palmer and 8-10 others who would bite your ear off to win. Tiger really only had to deal with Phil and David Duval. And Duval destroyed himself. Jack has 18 majors. And how many 2nds Like 20+ on golf courses that were not manicured to the highest standards.

  6. Tiger also really crushed his opponents from time to time with 15-20 strokes. When Scotty wins today with 5 strokes we say that he plays in his own division – but what is then 15-20 strokes?

  7. I have been saying the exact same thing, John. I totally agree with what you're saying. The other difference I believe is Tigers' shot making abilities. Tiger could hit it high, low, left, right and control the spin like no one ever has.

  8. Tiger for 11 straight years! Howver, Jack's consistency (you can only play who you played) over 3 decades was unparalleled! Same exact golf swing from beginning to end, super consistent! Tiger changed his swing like 4 times! Jack gets to be called the goat, IMO

  9. What Daly might be unaware of is that the MacGregor Tourney ball Nicklaus endorsed and played from 1960-1986 (through the Masters) was a inferior ball. Machine testing proved it in 1977. The Titleist ball's biggest miss (from 150 yards?) was 5 yards. The MacGregor ball would miss by up to 15 yards. Nicklaus admitted in 2000 that he knew hi we ball sucked. He realized the ball was shorter when light hitting Art Wall was out driving him in a tournament. The ball had inconsistent spin and it didn't go as far. Nicklaus partly has himself to blame for not using a better ball. How many majors would he have won playing Titleist.l? Remember, Jack finished 2nd in majors 19 times and had several 3rd place results

  10. I think Jack is the better player. If he worked out and played with today's equipment and balls, he would've been even better. They didn't practice like they do today, they didn't have the fancy golf gadgets to help your swing or putting. They didn't have a coach for every aspect of the game. Plus, Jack's family always came first. Jack played against better players as well. Just my opinion.

  11. Jack was amazing without a doubt, his record will never be broken. Tiger was something different. Saying Jack was a better golfer than Tiger is kinda like saying Babe Ruth is the goat because of his skill, not his record.

  12. When you get so old, youโ€™re out of your mind doesnโ€™t remember
And just for the record the greatest of all time with Sam Snead, he went to Hermiston five different decades. Try that on for size boy. Brooks Koepka said thereโ€™s only six guys in the field. Do you remember that long? John gets her not talking about your memory

  13. I agree with John… Jack had the greatest career (18 majors and 19 seconds eclipses Tiger's). Tiger did play the greatest, most dominant golf. But man… I'd love to see them head-to-head in their prime. I wouldn't bet against Jack. I think he might outthink Tiger in course management.
I disagree with his analysis of the Tour during Jack's prime. He beat some great players… Hall of Famers… and there were more than 12-20. They were cold blooded killers too, because they HAD to be as you couldn't make a living on the Tour then unless you won or came close. There are more good players now, but not as many cold blooded killers. Jack in his prime would've beat these guys easily.

  14. We can debate this until the end of time but it's impossible to choose because they played in totally different eras with different equipment and against different opposition. I think the fairest answer is Jack was the best of his generation and Tiger the best of his. Chances are no one will ever come close to their major victory totals and dominance of the game. Scottie has a shot but not sure he can keep the level of consistency going he's displayed over the last couple of years?

  15. Sport has become WAY more competitive and a WAY larger sport than it was when Jack played. Tiger in his prime would probably still dominate today but not the way he did. Jack wouldn't dominate shit.

  16. John's flaw here is apparent. Scottie rarely has real competition today despite a stronger field than Tiger faced. Jack faced a weaker field at the bottom but they were gone by Friday. He ended up playing legends fully capable of beating him. Watson Arnie Trevino Casper Player Miller Seve have almost 50 majors between them. The top 7 guys that Scottie faces may have 12 total majors. And they fizzle when the going gets hot. Jack was getting challenged by Trevino and Watson chipins or Palmer bomb putts or Miller going nuts and shooting a 63.

  17. John has been Hung over for 35 years? John thinks he got signed by Dead Zombies in Mars?๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… Crown Royal!! HALF GALLON OF ICE CREAM. 4 PACKS OF DARTS A DAY. 34 DIET COKES…๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

  18. The only way to be right in this conversation is to say "yeah I have no clue"…it's impossible to compare people from different eras. There are so many variables to consider. So many differences.. it's fun for people to debate but just reading the comments most of people arent taking even half of the things into consideration.. then there are the unonown unknowns.

  19. Itโ€™s pretty simple to watch them both and know who the GOAT is. Tiger won the masters at age 21 by 12 strokesโ€ฆ. And that was just the start. Come on nowโ€ฆ they literally started changing golf courses to top his dominance

  20. Well, being that in golf you don't play other golfers, you play the course, the only way you could compare JN to TW is to compare their scores on comparable courses. For instance, what was JN's average, or best, score on a certain course over his career compared to what TW's average or best score was on the same or comparable course.
I think golf is probably one of the only sports other than maybe baseball where you could compare eras.
