Russell Henley Wins at Colonial With Three Closing Birdies and Playoff Victory

Russell Henley speaks after winning the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club, completing a dramatic finish with birdies on the final three holes of regulation before winning in a playoff.

Henley says he was still almost speechless after the victory. Standing in the rough on 15, he was thinking about saving par just to avoid going over par for the day. But after birdies on 16 and 17, he realized he had a chance to put pressure on the leaders if he played 18 well — and he delivered.

He also breaks down the playoff hole, explaining the tee-shot target he had used all week, the confidence he had in his caddie Andy’s game plan, and the wedge shot that set up the winning putt.

Henley reflects on what it means to win at Colonial, a course filled with history and tied closely to Ben Hogan. He says the course demands fairways, iron control, shot-shaping and full commitment.

With the victory, Henley earns his sixth PGA Tour title and moves to No. 11 in the FedExCup standings, setting up an important stretch that includes the Memorial, U.S. Open, Travelers, Rocket Mortgage and The Open Championship.
