With the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Dow Championship returning to Midland June 8-14, the City of Midland has announced several road and parking closures of local streets during the event.
Currie Parkway will be closed to traffic from W. Main St. to Golfside Dr. (including the bridge) beginning 6 a.m. Monday, June 8 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. Authorized vehicles, as determined by event staff at the bridge, will be able to travel northeast (towards W. Main St.) on the stretch during the closure.
Beginning 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 11 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, parking will not be allowed at the following locations:
Stopping, standing and parking is prohibited on W. St. Andrews Rd. from Noeske St. to 1217 W. St. Andrews Rd. during that period. Also during that time, the westbound lane of W. St. Andrews will be closed from Noeske to the driveway of 1120 W. St. Andrews (the Midland Country Club).
People who don’t live near the Country Club or Currie Municipal Golf Course, or who are not attending the tournament, are advised to avoid the area, as traffic is expected to be heavy.
The Dow Championship brings top female golfers, national media and thousands of spectators to the Midland Country Club every year. It is the only team-format event on the LPGA tour. Tickets can be purchased at https://dowchampionship.com/tickets.
Anyone with questions about the parking or road closure situation during the tournament is advised to call the City engineering department at 989-837-3348. Questions about other logistics related to the tournament, such as event drop-off and bus shuttles for golfers, should be directed to the Dow Championship, who can be contacted at https://dowchampionship.com/contact-us.
