A two-time Sacred Heart University graduate has been named executive director of Great River Golf Club in Milford.
Edward Kennedy, a 2012 graduate who earned his MBA from SHU in 2014, will oversee operations at the University-owned club, Sacred Heart University announced in a press release.
Great River Golf Club, purchased by SHU in 2016, is an 18-hole championship course in Milford. The course was built in 2001 by golf architect Tom Fazio II and is ranked among Connecticut’s top courses by Golf Digest, Golfweek, and JourneyJunket.
Kennedy will work with the Great River leadership team across operations, focusing on the member and guest golf experience, as well as alumni events, weddings, hospitality, and community engagement.
According to Sacred Heart University, Kennedy double-majored in marketing and sport management before earning his MBA. The Airmont, New York, native also worked in SHU’s undergraduate admissions office, helping lead student engagement efforts and large-scale campus events.
He most recently served as an asset protection business partner with Target, overseeing operational strategy and financial protection initiatives across 12 locations in New York and New England.
An avid golfer who played club golf at SHU, Kennedy said the role combines his alma mater with a sport he has played for more than 30 years.
“One of my top priorities is ensuring the students, faculty, and alumni are aware of all the incredible amenities Great River offers,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy said he also wants to create events for students at Great River and build more reasons for alumni to return, including events, tournaments, and receptions tied to their SHU connection.
