Ian Rush and John Barnes both scored twice as Liverpool ended their league season with a powerful Anfield display. Rush opened the scoring and reached his 300th competitive goal for Liverpool, before Barnes made it 2-0 before half-time. Teddy Sheringham pulled one back for Spurs after the break, but Liverpool struck again soon after and finished the match strongly through Mark Walters, Rush and Barnes. Steve Sedgley added Tottenham’s second, while Bruce Grobbelaar also saved a Sheringham penalty.
