News that his son, Donald Trump Jr., will soon be a father to a third child is unlikely to sit well with his father, who once said the idea of being a grandfather “bothers” him.
While President Donald Trump has exuded a warm, grandfatherly air toward Kai Trump, his granddaughter, and nine other grandchildren, the two-term president once told Fox & Friends that being a grandfather comes with a cost. “Well, the psychology of a grandfather tends to bother me a little bit because it tends to represent lots of good things, but one not-so-good thing,” he said.
“But that’s okay. We’re very happy about it,” Trump, 79, said. The resurfaced quote comes after Trump Jr. and his brand-new wife, Bettina Anderson, announced that they are ready to start a family of their own when they return from their wedding in the Bahamas. It comes after Trump’s ‘painful and disabling’ chronic disease was explained by a doctor following his 3-hour hospital visit.

“Both of them have told friends that they plan on having kids together,” a friend of the newlyweds told The Daily Mail. “I’ve never seen Don so happy on a personal level. It’s pretty clear to those of us who know him well that Bettina is a perfect match for him.”
“They both have very laid-back and easy-going personalities that click really well,” the friend added. “You can tell that they genuinely love being around each other.”

“Bettina wants to start her own family, no question about it,” another friend said. “She’s really looking forward to that prospect.”
The happy couple tied the knot on Saturday in a private ceremony attended by just around 40 people, including Trump Jr.’s five kids; his siblings Ivanka, Eric, and Tiffany Trump; and their spouses. Trump Sr. did not attend the ceremony, claiming he needed to focus on the Iran war and stay in Washington, D.C.

According to friends of the couple, they are ready to start expanding their family.
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” Trump told reporters. “I’m in the midst — I said, you know, this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things. That’s one I can’t win on.”

The president said he’d be attacked by the media regardless of what decision he made. “That’s one I can’t win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed,” he said.
The wedding will mark Trump Jr.’s second marriage. He was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 12 years before their divorce in 2018. She is now dating Tiger Woods.
He was also previously engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is now the U.S. ambassador to Greece and the ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
