These Cheap $20 Vintage Irons Surprised Me! – 18 Holes With The Spalding Executive Irons

Sometimes curiosity gets the best of me and I end up gaming clubs that are well older than myself. To be honest I was surprised by these and didn’t mind using them at all. Makes you wonder if iron technology is cooked.

  1. DUDE! My played that set in high school, and he made varsity using them. Of course this was early 90’s.
And I played a set from the 60’s and also made varsity using them. I wish I still had them to practice with.
Next up, find the matching woods that go with the set!😂

  2. My father -in-law had those. Played them quite often. Vintage 1970's. First real perimeter weighted. As for iron technology; the new tech works if you blast a driver 20 yards farther than usual. It's a disaster if your iron flies 10 yds longer. It is about the consistency of your contact. Good stuff,as usual.

  3. Golf tech hasn’t changed much, there’s only so much you can do. Drivers are 699$ now and haven’t really changed in 15 years . Bladed wedges what can you really change . LAB putters that’s not new tech been around for decades . Irons just got chunkier and fancy materials and stronger lofts .

  4. This has driven me nuts for years. I have been a scratch or + handicap since I was 16 (I am 50 now), but amateurs have the hardest time adjusting to a new club. It seems they ALWAYS expect clubs to go the same yardage. Also, the most common miss of amateurs is short, so old clubs equals double short.

  5. Once again a very interesting and fun video. One thing I noticed personally with the ping chipper was that the face was very springy and my shots went too long even when I tried to take it easy.
