A golf club in central Minnesota is offering a reward to find the person responsible for cutting down a century-old tree on its course.
Adam Tabberson, a board member at Cokato Town & Country Club in Wright County, says the 60-foot Douglas Fir is believed to have been felled at around 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 9.
The fir has stood for around a century, and when the nine-hole golf course was rebuilt in 1958, the seventh hole was designed to go around the tree.

No information is available about the suspect(s), with the club offering a $2,000 reward for any information leading to the prosecution of those responsible.
Meanwhile, TwinCitiesGolf.com has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the expense of removing the tree and its stump, and planting a new tree.
“The goal is to raise $7,500 to help cover the cost of labor and replacement – if more is raised, a more mature of a tree can be purchased to restore the playing strategy on the hole,” the fundraiser said.
“Any additional funds raised beyond the goal will be used towards additional tree care and course beautification.”
