Select Group expands UK hospitality platform with three golf resorts

Dubai-based real estate development and hospitality investment company Select Group has expanded its UK hospitality platform with the purchase of three Delta Hotels by Marriott golf and country club resorts.

The properties comprise Delta Hotels Breadsall Priory Country Club in Derbyshire, Delta Hotels Tudor Park Country Club in Maidstone, Kent, and Delta Hotels St Pierre Country Club in Chepstow, Wales.

The three resorts encompass more than 900 acres and have a total of 380 rooms.

The transaction increases Select Group’s portfolio of UK golf resorts to five properties and over 530 rooms, following its earlier acquisitions of The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Cheshire and Old Thorns Hotel & Resort in Hampshire.

In 2023, all three newly acquired properties were rebranded to Delta Hotels by Marriott.

Select Group CEO Israr Liaqat said: “This acquisition reflects our conviction in the UK golf resort sector as a compelling long-term asset class. These are three properties with strong underlying fundamentals: established brands, quality locations, extensive grounds and loyal guest bases.

The UK continues to be an important market for Select Group, and we are committed to building a portfolio of hospitality assets that combine strong locations, enduring appeal and genuine potential for long-term value creation.”

Select Group announced plans to implement operational enhancements at the three sites, with a focus on areas such as guest experience, leisure facilities, golf operations, events, wellness offerings, and asset performance.

The purchase takes place as countryside hospitality, golf tourism, wellness-related travel, and experience-driven stays continue to attract interest from guests and investors.

Earlier this month, Marriott International announced the conversion of two hotels in Lima, Peru, adding them to its luxury brand portfolio, with both properties expected for completion in 2028.
