Most Golfers Lose Space Here in the Downswing

  1. In this video, you can see how stable the lower body stays — it barely moves off the line. That’s not something that just happens. It’s a movement the player has practiced.

Because normally, the lower body tends to shift outward toward the ball during the downswing. That’s just what the forces want to do when we pull the club down toward the ball.

To counter that, try this feeling:
As you start the downswing, imagine sitting slightly into a small squat. This keeps your hips back and creates space for the club to come through.

If you don’t make that move, things get tight — and the hands often have to flip at impact to save the shot. That’s when follow-up problems start to sneak in.

If you’d like one of those drills—something that helps you feel the right movement without overthinking—
just comment “DM”, and I’ll send you a link to my training community, where LPGA Tour player Sandra Gal and I share the exact exercises that make your swing more effortless.
