Jon Rahm: “What Aaron Did Today Is Nothing Short of Special”

Jon Rahm reacts after finishing in contention at the 2026 PGA Championship, saying he played “really good golf” at Aronimink and gave himself a real chance to win another major.

Rahm admits he struggled with the speed of the greens and could not get enough putts to the hole, but says the week was very positive overall. He felt he was still close until Aaron Rai made a long putt on 16, and believes he performed well enough across four rounds to be proud of the result.

The Spaniard also gives huge credit to Aaron Rai, calling his final round “nothing short of special.” Rahm praises Rai’s reputation as one of the nicest and kindest players in golf and even points to his famous iron head covers as a sign of how much he respects the game and his equipment.

Rahm also explains why Aronimink played much harder than many expected, why he never believed 15- or 20-under was realistic, and how small margins — including missed short putts earlier in the week — can decide a major championship.

  1. No we don’t & he won’t be since he has made Millions $$$ on top of his signing bonus. If LIV can’t find a sponsor that has Billions to throw away they might survive if not they will all be back just like Keopka.

  2. Today, for whatever reason, maybe because LIV is falling apart, I felt like the World of Golf was there; there was no 'separation', no talk of who's next to leave or who's next to pay fines and come back…nothing. Just awesome competition; like a time machine to ten years ago. Except for Rai; he came in and took over.

  3. If anyone came up with an original question players would probably keel over. The vapid inane garbage these professionals have to endure from unoriginal cookie cutter 'reporters' is beyond a waste of their time.

  4. A class act is this guy Jon Rahm! Congrats to him and also to Cam Smith for getting back in contention in a major! I'm pulling for another LIV guy to win again in the next 2 majors now! I hope Bryson gets his game back sooner than later now too.

  5. The big names of the PGA got schooled and embarrassed. Rai proved these primadonnas are overrated. Rahm can't win on the big stage anymore, horrible putting. Scheffler is done. Dechambeau should stop playing majors.
